TitleRecords of Lionel Papé, Chief Accountant, Papworth Village Settlement and Enham Village Centre
DescriptionAccording to Frank Jordan in Papworth Stories (no. 61), the appointment in 1940 of a professional accountant was due to the additional accounting requirements of government war work contracts. The person appointed was L.F. Papé. Only months after his arrival, Varrier-Jones died and the post became a pivotal one within an executive board that took over the day-to-day running of both Papworth and Enham in place of Varrier-Jones benevolent dictatorship. During the following 40 years, Papé's post changed title several times with changing responsibilities, to Chief Accountant and Treasurer, Treasurer, then Treasurer and Estates Director.
