DescriptionThe Isle of Ely Constabulary was founded in 1841, following the County Police Act 1839. The Isle of Ely Constabulary consisted of four divisions: Ely, Wisbech, Whittlesey and Chatteris. Stations within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Ely Constabulary included Ely, March, Whittlesey, Littleport, Mepal, Chatteris, Doddington, Thorney, Wimblington and Wisbech. In 1965 Isle of Ely Constabulary merged with the Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Cambridge City Police, Huntingdonshire Constabulary and Peterborough Combined Police Force to form the Mid-Anglia Constabulary.
