DescriptionNotes accompanying photograph contain the following information: 'This is a military funeral passing through the streets of Whittlesey. It is believed to be that of Corporal Rawson the first Whittlesey man to lose his life in the 1914-1918 War. The helmets being worn by the police officers were made of straw and were worn during the summer months. This photograph belonged to the late Mr F. B. Hammond who served in the Isle of Ely Police Force from 1910-1943 and died in July 1990 aged 100. He is one of the officers leading the funeral procession.'
