TitleIlluminated Address Presented to Captain F..M. Roxby
DescriptionThis amazing document was presented in the field in May 1916 to Captain Roxby of the No. 10 Kite Balloon Section of the Royal Flying Corps. on the occasion of his birthday. It includes 97 signatures of his fellow officers and men.. The document reads: "in commemoration of his birthday and as a token of the esteem and regard with which he is held by the Officers, Non-commissioned Officers & Men of No. 10 Kite Balloon Section of which he is in command.". At the bottom is written "Illuminated by 1st A.M., S.F. Sweeting in a Dug-Out in France". The Maddison and Hinde index book records that a photograph was taken of the Roxby illuminated address in 1916. See also WH/2G/124
