DescriptionTitle of Act: The Cambridge University and Town Waterworks Act 1853. Scheme to provide a public water supply for Cambridge by: 1. Sinking a well to a depth of 48 feet and the installation of pumping machinery at Limekiln Hill, Cherryhinton. 2. Line of pipes from the spring near the Robin Hood and Little John public house, Cherryhinton, to the reservoir situated at Cherryhinton Road, Cambridge. 3. Line of pipes to be laid from the intended well at Limekiln Hill, across in a direct line to Cherryhinton Road reservoir. 4. Line of pipes to leave the Cherryhinton Road reservoir and to be laid along Cherryhinton Road and Hills Road, Cambridge and terminating at Hyde Park Corner. (Total length of main pipe to be 2 miles, 4 furlongs, and 3 chains). Passing through the following parishes: Cherry Hinton and St Andrew the Less, Cambridge.
