TitleAn International Combine Harvester
DescriptionAn International Combine Harvester, said incorrectly by Mr Whitney to be the first in England (although not the first, it is an early one - probably of first 50. See correspondence with DR Mills 1995 and Farmers Weekly, 19 July 1935, p 21.). It was in use on Lord de Ramsey's farm near Broughton. Information on the back of the photograph records that the men working the combine were Mr Bolton, engineer from the International firm, Mr Philip Harden of St Ives and Mr Bosworth of Woodwalton. A Mr Leslie Seaton of Great Raveley is driving the tractor - he was killed when a Red Cross ship sank in the Mediterranean. The date of the photograph was estimated to be 1937 or 1938. Information about the combine harvester is also on the back of the photograph.
