TitleTrinity Church Jubilee Stone Laying Service
DescriptionThe congregation of Trinity Church, Huntingdon, gathered outside the front of the church for the Jubilee of the stone laying ceremony which had taken place on the 22nd May 1867 (See WH3/361). This image appears in the 1918 Trinity Church Jubilee Souvenir booklet issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the church, and is described as "Jubilee Stone-Laying 22 May, 1917. By Howard Coote Esq., Lord Lieutenant for Hunts" (FR10/1/1/3). It is possible that the lady on the left of the image in a wheeled chair may be Julia Maddison, the mother of the photographer Frederick Hinde, and widow of Arthur Maddison. Ernest Whitney wrote in a letter about his early years at the studio working with Frederick Hinde "Mrs Maddison lived with her son until her death and towards the end of her life [she died in 1925] I remember him taking her to Trinity Church (of which they were both members) in a wheel chair." See accession 2086. Ernest Whitney has captioned this print "Trinity Golden Jubilee.
