DescriptionArthur Maddison was employed to take photographs of prisoners in Huntingdon Gaol, and this is the image of a Louisa Dickerson, who was convicted at the Huntingdonshire Quarter Sessions on the 1st January 1877 for stealing a watch valued at £3. She was aged 19, 4' 11" in height, had dark brown hair and grey eyes, had been born in the parish of Stilton and was employed as a servant. She had been apprehended in Stilton, and was sentence to 4 calendar months hard labour. She had one previous conviction for stealing four books and a gold pencil case at Wisbeach in 1876, for which she received 14 days in prison.
Huntingdonshire Archives holds the original volumes of the Habitual Criminal Returns of prisoners in Huntingdon Gaol 1870-1878
