| Title | Letter from Edmund A. H. Lechmere, Park Street [London], to the Duke of Manchester |
| Description | Reporting progress with the Order of St John of Jerusalem. They have acquired chambers in St Martin's Place but are not yet furnished. It is proposed that a Chaple of Ladies of the Order be established to assist in the charitable work. Will the Duchess allow her name to be enrolled? A planned dinner on the Festival of St John the Baptist and he hopes the Duke will attend. If the Order becomes well known later they could perhaps get up a troop of mounted riflemen or Light Horse of their own. |
