Title | Draft letter from the Duke of Manchester, Kimbolton Castle, to his brother, Lord Robert Montagu |
Description | He is sorry Robert has such a low opinion of the assistance he received from his brother in the election. Their recollections differ. If Robert had gone to a borough and stood on his own merits he would have had the right to act for himself; instead he must now consider his principle supporters and ask their advice. He objects to Robert's description of his constitutuents as mere farmers. Comparison with Fellowes. It was a comment at a dinner party that opened his eyes to the dissatisfaction within the local Party and so he urged Tillard to write. |
