Title | Letter from Viscountess Mandeville and Lord Robert Montagu, to Lord Kimbolton, Sandhurst |
Description | This letter has undergone Conservation repair but is fragmented. Two letters in one.
First letter is from Lord Robert Montagu, Lord Kimbolton's brother. Hopes Lord Kim will not be dissapointed e had not yet answered his letter as mamma forgot to show it to her. Cannot send fruit as Papa says it will cost more to send it, but if he asks Grandmamma she will likely send some. Had visit from Mr.Boyton and Mr.Cooke both DD's [Doctor of Divinity], Mr.O.Sullivan and Mr.Trench "Who wrotes in square" [mimics the writing]. Rosa is well except for her tail. Signs off "very noice good bye laugh well".
Second letter is from Millicent, Viscountess Mandeville Does not think essense of coffee a good thing. Fruit too expensive to send to him but has asked her mother to send some but must contend himself with what he has. Sorry Colonel Taylor put him off drawing. Encourages him to work hard at French to get through the course then he'll have more time to do other things. Asks if she should bring him a bible. Hopes to see him by the end of August. Mentions O [Olivia] and R [Robert] being well. Harry (?) is here and Dr.Boyton will probably return here soon. |
