TitleLetter from William Monck Mason, Paris, to the Duke of Manchester
DescriptionCorrespondence on the various books wanted by the Duke .Mason has sustained a grevious loss, an event which has terminated an intercourse of 47 years . Details the serious illness of a female that began on Monday the 1st April, but does not name her. States she was attended to by Dr.Verity Junior, both Mason and Verity suspected she had suppression of blood to the brain. She died the following Thursday. Possibly referring to his wife, Jane Alicia Mason (nee Winder) whom he married in 1797.
Does not want to dwell on the subject and returns to the matters at hand, surprised to receieved the past number of Vendidad without any translation or comment and will enquire at the Fountain Head because of so great a defect. Mason's son is with him now and will convey the volume to your Grace on his return to London. Continues to seek completed Halma's works and the second part of the catalogue for Sylvester de Sacy's Library [See M10/12a/7a].
