TitleLetter from R. McGhee, Tandragee, to Lord Mandeville, Athenaeum Club London
Descriptionconcerning the purchase of manuscripts.

Concluded the Dukes business and purchased the documents for £500, hopes the Duke will be happy with this bargain. Do not mention anything of what I have said to Dr.Somerville, no doubt he was anxious to sell.Totals 61 documents and several loose sheets. Documents will be packaged safey and sent via friend to Mr Frederick Gore and then addressed to Messrs Seely with directions to be left at the Custom House til Seely goes for them. The documents are in the state in which they were originally put together, McGhee encourages his Lordship to not alter their state but have them bound. They have been numbered by Cobianchi wrongly as to dates. Suggests Seely half binds them with Russia backs and corners to protect from moths. With respect to his letter to Cobianchi, he felt it was his duty to say the truth about the value of the documents but did not of course say his opinion on the usefulness of the documents to this particular circumstance. Encourages his lordship to say nothing about them for a while.

Included an added letter on the same paper dated 4th October. [Finish- something about rent].
