TitleLease and Release; 1. Henry Gale late of Scruton but now of Hawkeswell in the North Riding of co. York, Esq., and Mary his wife, late Mary Dalton spinster, the niece and heir at law of John Tasker late of Franks, co. Kent, esq., who survived John Tasker, his father, deceased. 2. Rt. Hon. George Montagu, Lord Viscount Hinchingbrook, eldest son of the 5th Earl of Sandwich by his wife Lady Mary Henrietta, formerly Lady Mary Henrietta Powlett, who was the cestui que vie named in the will of James Pettit junior, late of Eltham, co. Kent, esq.
DescriptionRecites: 1) Will of James Pettit senior, 16th January, 1729 Devised all his lands in cos Middlesex and Kent and elsewhere to trustees to pay his debts and legacies and then to settle any unsold lands in themselves but for the benefit of his named heirs. 2) Lease and Release of 7th-8th March, 1743. Reciting the Report of a Master of Chancery approving John Tasker senior and John Tasker junior to be the new trustees of the above will. Now the 2 former trustees release to the Taskers all the lands now to be conveyed upon the same trusts as they were devised to them. 3) Various will, deaths etc, by which the lands descended from James Pettit senior to his son James Pettit junior, and were then equally divided between his cousins, Ann Gassett, widow, who in 1776 sold her moiety to John Latham, and Thomas Hall, the son of Dorothy Hall, widow, deceased. 4) The death without issue of Thomas Hall, January, 1800. 2. became entitled to his moiety of the trust premises under the wills of Dorothy Hall and James Pettit junior. 5) Lease, Release and Bargain and Sale of 1st-2nd May 1800 and ensuing Common Recovery. (Hinch 2/122-124) Now 1 to 2 All that undivided moiety of and in the piece of ground formerly part of Newport Ground or Garden, lying at the north west end of a street there between Gerrard Street and Monmouth Street (further described) the 9 messuages erected, being in Grafton Street and Litchfield Street and the pieces of ground in Grafton Street, with the buildings erected upon them, (further described); all of which are in the p. of St, Martin in the Fields, St. Giles in the Fields and St. Ann Westminster, co. Middlesex.
