Most of the papers pertain to the public and professional life of George Charles Montagu (b.1874, d.1962), the 9th Earl of Sandwich, a Conservative politician and Lord Lieutenant of Huntingdonshire from 1922 to 1946. The papers broadly cover his public work in government, charities and the church in addition to correspondence, deeds and accounts relating to property holdings and the administration of the Hinchingbrooke Estate. A small number of records also relate to Victor Montagu, eldest son of the 9th Earl. |
