(On 7 June 1809 Thomas Ridlington, grandfather of the above Thomas Capel Ridlington, purchased 2 Turf Lots (8a) lying together in the Turf Fen, Ramsey, abutting northward on Green Dike and eastward on Uggmere Cote Drove, for the sum of £31 10s 0d from Peter Deacons, late of Ramsey, but then of Surrey Street, Strand, gentleman. By lease and release of 26-27 May 1835 Thomas Ridlington's 4 grandchildren made a partition of his property, and under this Thomas Capel Ridlington acquired all those several pieces of land in Ramsey in certain places there called the Lodesend and Longbeach, The Bill, The Hollow, Muchwood, Skeggins and one lot in the old Turf Fen except the copyhold messuage or tenement and buildings with the appurtenances.) |
