DescriptionCopy Will and Probate. Will dated 6th May 1841. Jane Smith of Crooms Hill, Greenwich, Kent, spinster. To Margaret Ann Tompson, sister £200; to each of the children of Mrs. Dothy, friend, of Ropley Hants £100; to Mrs. George Mackenzie, friend and cousin, £50; to each servant in service at time of decease 1 years wages, over and above what may be due to them; to Colonel Bellingham John Smith, nephew, the marble tables in the front drawing room and the busts on them; to Robert James Tompson, nephew, the marble tables in the hall and busts in the back drawing room, if he marries during my life time, otherwise these bequests to Matthew Carrier Tompson, nephew; to Margaret Ann Tompson, sister, two cabinets, all jewels, trinkets, wearing apparel, books, prints, china - to be shared among her children if she doesn't want them all; to Matthew Carrier Tompson, nephew, largest musical clock; to Edward Tompson, nephew, smaller musical clock; to Mary Ann Smith, niece, the clock now in her possession; to John Millard, servant, the clock now in his possession; To executors Robert Allen Esq of Blackheath and George Smith, gentleman of Lincolns Inn, in trust, rest of the estate and effects, to convert to money to be divided equally among nephews and nieces - Colonel Bellingham John Smith, Mary Ann Smith, Matthew Carrier Tompson, Robert James Tompson, Edward Tompson, Julia Maria Morton (wife of Rev. Frederick Pegus) and Margaret Tompson. If any of these die during lifetime of testatrix then parents' share to go to issue; to Mary Jane Dickens god daughter, daughter of the late Colonel Dickens £200. Codicil dated 28th October 1854, Testatrix now residing at Round Coppice, Bucks. Robert Allen having died, she appoints Robert James Tompson Esq of Round Coppice, nephew and Edward Tompson Esq of Lincolns Inn, nephew as trustees and executors with George Smith Esq. Bequests to Margaret Tomson, niece,now married to the Revd, Alexander Burrowes Campbell, revoked and the same share left to the exectutors on trust to pay income to Margaret Campbell for her sole use. At her death, capital and interest to be shared between Rev, Matthew Carrier Tomson, Robert James Tomson and Edward Tompson, nephews , as tenants in common.
