TitleGodmanchester Borough Charters.
DescriptionAt the time of the Domesday Survey, 1086, Godmanchester was a Royal Manor, and as such, enjoyed certain privileges not shared by other manors in private hands. The extensive series of Charters and other documents belonging to the Corporation show what these privileges were. Extending from 1212 to 1685, they illustrate the gradual development of a manor into a borough.
