TitleLetter to Lord Robert Montagu from Lord Derby, St James Square [London]
DescriptionHe is gratified that Montagu attaches so much value to his opinion. He does not doubt the goodness of Montagu's motives in attending the working class meeting and in demonstrating that the Conservative party are not indifferent to their welfare. He does not agree that capitalism is their enemy and the demand for reduction in working hours cannot be defended on any grounds. He doubts the meeting will have had the desired effect.
