DescriptionReferencing his attending meetings of the working classes and the Nine House Bill. He does not care to defend himself but does care for Derby's opinion and so wishes to explain his intentions. Mentions the Strike Committee and his hope of turning them away from Bright in their favour. All those he confided in could find no fault in his scheme but the Radicals fear damage to their cause and have attacked them in the press.
