TitleDemise For a Term
Description1. The Hon. Charles Bertie, Uffington, Lincs. Esq. and Charles Bertie, his son and heir app. by Mary, his late wife. 2. Kempe Brydges, St. Clements Dane, Middx., 'wollen drapper'. Recites: that on the marriage of the said Charles Bertie, the father with Mary Norborne of Great S., the messuages, farms etc. hereinafter mentioned were amongst other estates entailed upon the issue male of that marriage and for barring that entail, 1. did in Michaelmas Term last suffer a Common Recovery. Now agreed between 1. and 2. that said Recovery shall be to the use of 2., subject to proviso and on payment of money, then to such other uses as 1. and 2. shall appoint. Now 1. to 2. for £1,500. Messuage and lands and Horse Close, Little Bennetts pasture, Woolastone Close and Dogs Turd Close, all of the yearly value of £65, late in possession of John Normington and now in that of Charles Bertie, the father, in Great Stewkley. And Nuns Meadow with apps. in Great S. now or late in tenure of William Males at the yearly rate of £10. And the Woodfield, the Kings Close, the Peters Pasture, the Home Close, and Linford's Pasture with apps. now or late in tenure of John King, in Great S., of the yearly value of £32. Cottage and homestead in Gt.S. now or late in tenure of John Larrett of the yearly value of £1.18s. One other cottage now or late in the tenure of Francis Bills in Great S. of the yearly rent of 18/- with apps. And Hunts Closes in Molesworth (180as), of the yearly value of £71. And messuage thereon. All with apps. For 1,000 years. 1. to pay 2. £4.10s. for every £100 lent. Usual conditions. Endorsed: The original mortgage was delivered to Mr. Wm. Dillingham on his purchase of Hunts Closes etc. in Molesworth and assigned by Mr. Brydges to a trustee for Dillingham as to these closes. And as to the other part to James Mead in trust for Charles Bertie and others intitled to the inheritance according to the Settlement in 1728.
