TitleDeed to Lead Uses of Fine
Description1. Richard Trice, Great Stewkley, Esq., and Anne, his wife. 2. Oliver Cheney, Stewkley aforesaid, Esq., and Frances, his wife, and dau. of 1. 3. Francis St. John, Southall, Beds., Esq. and Sir Francis Ventris, Chuxton, Beds., Kt. Recites: Richard Trice in consideration of the recent marriage between 2. lately conveying to 3. certain manors and lands in the Stewkleys, i.e. the Manor of Great S. called Camoys Manor with apps. and the moiety of the Manor of Broughton with apps. and one windmill with the soil on which it stands in Great S. And all lands of 1. in the Stewkleys to use of 1. for life. After death of the survivor to use of 2. and lawful heirs. If none to use of right heirs of said Oliver for ever as appears in Indenture of 9 Feb. 1602 and a Fine after levied to aforesaid uses, all conditions in these expressed having been fulfilled by Oliver Cheney to satisfaction of Richard Trice. Now to make said conditions void and to make all aforesaid property absolute to 1. for life, then to 2. and lawful heirs or if none to right heirs of said Oliver. 1. and 2. to 3. Aforesaid property in the Stewkleys. To the following uses: First to use of 1. for life then to 2. and lawful heirs. If none to use of right heirs of said Oliver for ever absolute. For better assurance to these uses 1. and 2. to levy fine in favour of 3. within next 6 months for above uses. Lands clear except for 1 lease made to John Cooke and Agnes his wife for their lives of a cottage, 2 closes and certain parcels of meadow in tenure of said Agnes, for yearly rent of 26/8 and one other lease made to Agnes and Robert Foster on 7 Feb. 1603 of messuage and lands and tenements in an annexed schedule for 11 years at £6.3.4d p.a. and for several grants made to Widow Lucey and Widow Rowe of 2 cottages or their lives in which they now dwell without reserving any rent.
