TitleGuildhall and building committee and Plans Committee minute books
DescriptionThe Guildhall and Building Committee met once a month to discuss and resolve issues relating to the repair and maintenance of the Guildhall including its expansion and rebuilding. Issues regarding the use of rooms by other organizations and associations such as the Improvement Commissioners and the Fire Brigade and the maintenance of the Free Library feature in the minutes regularly. The committee also heard reports of the building bye-laws sub-committee and made resolutions on new building plans laid before them. The lists of plans wanting approval contain a description of the property, its situation, the name and address of the owner, the name of the architect or builder, and whether the plans were approved. These lists are only indexed as plans of new buildings and not by the address or name or owner. From 1900 the Committee was known as the Plans Committee.
