TitleCattle plague committee minute book
DescriptionThe Cattle Plague Committee was set up to monitor and take action against the spread of contagious diseases among cattle, initially plague but later cases of foot and mouth, pleuro-pneumonia, and swine fever. Meetings recorded in the minute book take place approximately once a month but become more frequent as required. Issues discussed included; provisions for burying diseased cattle; the appointment of inspectors and assistant inspectors; the stocking of the commons; the movement of cattle; estimates of the value of slaughtered stock; opening of markets; reports of new cases; and claims for compensation. Copies of public notices issued by the committee are included in this volume.
