TitleCam bridges committee minute book
DescriptionThe Cam Bridges Committee was set up following the River Cam Bridges Act of 1889 which legislated for the creating of two bridges over the River Cam. (These would become the Elizabeth and Victoria Bridges.) Their meeting began approximately fortnightly becoming quarterly. Issues discussed at meetings included; responsibility for finance between the Corporation of Cambridge and Chesterton Local Board; authorizing payments to the engineer and the clerk of works; settling compensation claims where the bridge building effected private land; progress updates and reports of the engineer.
