DescriptionDay one of the proceedings comprised the speech of Lord Robert Cecil appearing for the promoters of the bill. Day two comprised the evidence of Colonel Robert Townley Caldwell, Vice-Chairman of the Cambridge Water Company; Professor Sims Woodhead, Professor of Pathology at the University of Cambridge on the cause and prevention of waterborne diseases; Mr E Francis Smith, Fellow of the Chemical Society on water analysis of samples of Cambridge water; Dr James Christian Simpson, a Cambridge doctor on cases of typhoid; Mr Marcus Dennis Bradford, proprietor of University Arms Hotel, on the service provided by the water company; Mr Isaac Cock, Chairman of the Sanitary Committee for CRDC, on the service provided by the water company; M Charles Hawksley, civil engineer and Past-President of the Institute of Civil Engineers on his advice to the water Company relating to the current water bill; Mr Edward Brough Taylor, civil engineer on the works of the water company; Mr Edward Michael Eaton, civil engineer on the works of the water company; and Ernest William Drew, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, on the water company's accounts. Day three comprised the continuing evidence of Ernest William Drew and evidence of William Potter Spalding, Mayor; Professor Howard Marsh, Master of Downing, consulting surgeon and member of the Public Health Committee, on the history of the water question in Cambridge from 1906; Mr John Lambert, Chairman of CUDC, on reasons why the Council sympathize with the town council in opposing the bill; and William Cash, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, on the accounts of the water company. Day three also includes the closing speech of Mr JD Fitzgerald.
