TitlePetition of the Gentlemen Tradesmen, Merchants, Watermen and Other Substantial Person Living near and Trading on the River Nene
DescriptionThe petitioners report that the scouring out of the River Nene last summer was so successful that the section not scoured has become unnavigable. They ask for the upper part of the River Nene and Whittlesey Dike to be scoured to Stanground Sluice. They also ask for Stanground Sluice to be permitted to run as required, and for the doors of Tong's Drain to be shut to preserve the navigation. Sixty six signatories.
